1. Our Commitment

  • 1.1 The Centre for Homeopathic Education (“CHE”, “we” and “us”) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of everyone connected with us, including adults who may be vulnerable.
  • 1.2 We recognise our responsibilities under the Care Act 2014 and the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 (the Prevent duty).

2. Who This Policy Covers

2.1 This policy covers students, clinic patients and anyone else connected with CHE, including visitors, tutors, supervisors, clinicians, staff and volunteers.

2.2 Our courses and the CHE Homeopathy Clinic are for adults aged 18 and over.

3. Who Is Responsible

3.1 Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is the Head of Academic Operations. The Global Managing Director is the deputy.

3.2 The Designated Safeguarding Lead manages safeguarding concerns, liaises with external agencies and makes sure staff are appropriately trained.

4. Types Of Harm

4.1 We take seriously any sign of:

  • physical abuse;
  • emotional or psychological abuse;
  • sexual abuse or harassment;
  • financial abuse or exploitation;
  • neglect;
  • self-neglect;
  • domestic abuse;
  • radicalisation or extremism; and
  • online abuse or exploitation.

5. How To Raise A Concern

5.1 If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a student, patient or anyone else connected with CHE, email [email protected] without delay.

5.2 If you are in a clinic, tell the clinician immediately, during the consultation if necessary, and then email [email protected].

5.3 If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent medical help that is not an emergency, call NHS 111.

5.4 Please do not investigate the matter yourself or confront the person the concern is about.

6. What Happens Next

6.1 The Designated Safeguarding Lead records every concern and decides what action is needed.

6.2 We share information only with the people who need to know.

6.3 The Designated Safeguarding Lead may contact external agencies. We share information without consent only where this is needed to protect someone.

7. Clinic Patients

7.1 If a patient discloses a risk of serious harm to themselves or someone else, the clinician is informed immediately and the patient is urged to contact their GP, NHS 111 or 999.

7.2 How we use patients’ information in an emergency is explained in our Clinic Privacy Notice. What we expect of trainee homeopaths is set out in the Trainee Clinic Standards.

8. Prevent

8.1 We have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. Staff receive Prevent awareness training and report any concern to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Anyone else can raise a concern at [email protected].
