Homeopathy awareness week

Homeopathy awareness week

Homeopathy Awareness Week (HAW) is a celebration of homeopathy as a patient-centred system of medicine which works! Homeopathy Awareness Week takes place from 10-16 of April, at the same time as we celebrate the anniversary of the birthday of Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy.

During this week, the idea is that awareness of homeopathy is increased as practitioners organise free talks or other promotional events, which can help educate and inspire. You’re also likely to see lots of information being shared on social media.

So how does homeopathy work?

Homeopathy treats each person as a unique individual with the aim of stimulating their own natural healing ability. A homeopath selects the most appropriate medicine based on the individual’s specific symptoms and personal level of health. Homeopathy has been used effectively as a system of natural medicine across the world for over two hundred years. One of homeopathy’s defining features is that it views each patient as a unique individual.

We are all very different, and when become ill we experience our disease (or dis-ease!) in different ways. We might have similar physical symptoms to a particular condition, for example sneezing and a runny nose when we have a cold, but our reaction to that cold will be different. Some people will just carry on as usual and regard the physical symptoms as a minor inconvenience, whereas others might react totally differently and feel sad or despondent, or irritable and bad-tempered.

During the consultation, a homeopath will seek to understand these differences, and make a bespoke prescription tailored to very specific symptoms. An appropriate homeopathic medicine is selected according to presenting symptoms, both physical and emotional, with the aim of supporting and enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal.

Many people come to homeopathy for the first time after struggling for a long time with some sort of chronic complaint, such as a skin condition – and then find a quick and safe natural treatment with homeopathic remedies. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating…. you have to try and see for yourself. The best way is to find a homeopath you feel comfortable with, and get a professional treatment.

Some interesting facts:

Homeopathy helps an estimated 450 million people across the world each year

Homeopathy can help people to improve their overall health, especially if they are suffering from chronic or complex conditions. Some outcomes based studies suggest that up to 70% of patients questioned, reported improvement to their health following homeopathic treatment.

Homeopathy can be used together with other forms of medicine

Homeopathic medicines are prepared in a special way to make them safe, and they produce little or no unwanted reactions.

Because homeopathy is a natural form of medicine, it is safe for everyone; this includes new babies, small children, adults, women during pregnancy, and the elderly.

Homeopathy has been part of NHS provision since 1948.

There is lots of evidence which shows that homeopathy works
