Top 10 Health Issues Experienced by Men: Take Charge of Your Well-being
Men’s health encompasses a wide range of concerns that deserve
They say that the “eyes are a window to the soul”, they are often the first thing you notice about a person. So when they look red, swollen, itchy and sore it can make us feel self conscious on top of the physical discomfort caused by conditions such as styes & blepharitis.
Blepharitis is not contagious and can have a couple of different causes, it can be bacterial infection, or the glands in our eyelids not producing enough oil to lubricate our eyes properly. Whatever the cause you will find yourself with itchy eyes that feel like you have a piece of grit stuck in them, sore eyelids from all the rubbing and your eyelids stuck together in the morning with gunk and crusty bits. It is all just a bit irritating more than anything else.
Styes on the other hand are mostly caused by an infected eyelash follicle or an infected gland in your eyelid. The infection causes a painful lump to form around the eye. The skin will likely be red and swollen and accompanied by pus (doesn’t it sound glamorous?!).
So when you find yourself with a stye or blepharitis what can you do? The first thing is to stop using contact lenses and makeup until the condition has cleared up. Make sure that you keep your eyes clean. Soak a clean cloth in warm water and cover your eyes with it for 10 minutes or so. You will need to do this several times a day, but you should find it very soothing.
Also, in the case of a stye, covering your infected eye with a cold wet tea bag can help and for blepharitis a daily eyelid massage can really help. Using the tips of your fingers to make gentle circular motion over your eyelids for a couple of minutes a day can really help to stimulate the eyelid glands.
Then as always, you can turn to homeopathy for some great remedies to help the healing process along.
