Mouth ulcers and cold sores can be really annoying. They both seem to pop up at the worst times and are painful and irritating.
But what are they, exactly? And what’s the difference between them?
Mouth ulcers are small, painful lesions that form inside your mouth. They are caused by a number of things, including bite injuries, food allergies, or even stress.
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus and usually appear on the lips or around the mouth.
While mouth ulcers and cold sores can be irritating and unpleasant, they are generally harmless and will go away on their own.
If you have a mouth ulcer, you can do a few things to help ease the pain and speed up the healing process. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day, and avoid eating spicy or acidic foods that can irritate the ulcer. If cold sores are causing you discomfort, try applying a lip balm or cream.
