Staphysagria: A Remedy for the Wounds of a Toxic World
Chilblains are tiny, irritating skin swells that develop in response to cold weather.
The body’s extremities, including the toes, fingers, heels, ears, and nose, are most frequently affected.
Although they might be unpleasant, chilblains rarely result in long-term harm. If further exposure to the cold is avoided, they usually recover within a few weeks.
After being exposed to the cold for several hours, chilblains typically appear. In most cases, they produce burning and itching in the affected areas, which can get worse if you enter a heated room.
Additionally, the affected skin may enlarge, turn red, or turn dark blue. Blood vessels near the skin’s surface become narrower when the skin is cold. The blood vessels enlarge if the skin is heated afterward. Blood veins close to the skin’s surface may not always be able to handle the increased blood flow if this happens too soon and may flow into the surrounding tissue as a result, leading to the swelling and itching that are typical with chilblains.
An abnormal response to the cold leads to chilblains. They are widespread in the winter as it is typically chilly and damp.
You can lower your risk of getting chilblains if you’re prone to them by:
