1. Our commitment

1.1 The Centre for Homeopathic Education (“CHE“) is committed to equal opportunity for all students, applicants, clinic patients, visitors, tutors and partners. We value diversity and believe everyone benefits from a learning community drawn from many backgrounds.

1.2 We do not discriminate on the grounds of any of the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010:

  • age
  • disability
  • gender reassignment
  • marriage and civil partnership
  • pregnancy and maternity
  • race (including colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin)
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

1.3 Everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect, in an environment free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation, in person and online.

1.4 How we treat our staff is covered by our staff handbook.

2. Conduct we do not accept

  • Direct discrimination:treating someone less favourably because of a protected characteristic.
  • Indirect discrimination:applying a rule or practice that puts people with a protected characteristic at a disadvantage without good reason.
  • Harassment:unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic that violates someone’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment.
  • Victimisation:treating someone badly because they have made or supported a complaint of discrimination.
  • Failure to make reasonable adjustmentsfor disabled people.

3. Responsibilities

  • The CEO has overall responsibility for this policy and reviews it every year.
  • Staff and tutors must follow this policy and must not discriminate against, harass or victimise anyone. They must report any discrimination they see.
  • Students must follow this policy in classes, clinic, community spaces and all dealings with CHE. Discriminatory behaviour may lead to action under the Student Agreement.

4. Admissions

4.1 We assess applicants only on their motivation, commitment and ability to benefit from the course, as set out in our Admissions Policy. We make reasonable adjustments to the admissions process for applicants who tell us about a support need.

5. Studying with us

5.1 We want all our courses and services to be accessible. We make reasonable adjustments to teaching, assessment and clinic arrangements to meet students’ needs, including needs arising from disability. Please tell us about any support you need at [email protected].

5.2 We handle any health information you give us confidentially and only for the adjustments you have asked for, as explained in our Privacy and Cookie Policy. We do not collect equality monitoring information.

6. Safeguarding

6.1 CHE has a Safeguarding Policy. If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a student, patient or anyone else connected with CHE, please email [email protected].

7. Complaints

7.1 If you believe you have experienced discrimination, harassment or victimisation, please raise it under our Complaints Policy by emailing [email protected]. We will investigate promptly, confidentially and impartially, and you will not be disadvantaged for raising a concern in good faith.
