1.1 Regular attendance is essential for you to achieve the learning outcomes of your course and to meet the requirements of professional bodies. This policy sets out what we expect and what happens if you cannot attend.
1.2 It applies to all Centre for Homeopathic Education (“CHE“) courses and to the CHE Homeopathy Clinic, and should be read with the Student Agreement and the Deferral Policy.
2.1 You must attend at least 85% of the scheduled classes and clinic sessions in each module.
2.2 A class counts as attended if you join it live for its full length, or watch the full recording on our learning platform before the end of the module. Clinic sessions must be attended live.
2.3 We track attendance using Zoom attendance records and our learning platform’s viewing records. We use these records only to monitor attendance and support you, in line with our Privacy and Cookie Policy.
3.1 Please attend each live session from start to finish. Time missed through late arrival or leaving early is recorded and counts as missed attendance unless you watch the recording of the part you missed.
3.2 If you arrive late for a timed assessment, you may resit once without a fee if you give a good reason with evidence. Otherwise the Deferral Policy applies.
4.1 If you cannot attend, please tell the Trainee Services Officer at [email protected] as soon as possible, giving the reason.
4.2 If you are finding it hard to attend because of personal, financial or academic difficulties, please contact us early. The Trainee Services Officer, the Academic Support Officer or the Senior Programme Lead can help.
5.1 If your attendance falls below 85% because of circumstances outside your control, email [email protected] within four weeks of the missed attendance, explaining what happened and including evidence where possible, such as a medical certificate or employer’s letter.
5.2 We normally accept illness, accident, bereavement of someone close to you, compassionate grounds and sudden employment emergencies. We do not normally accept misreading the timetable or planned holidays.
5.3 The Senior Programme Lead will decide, with the relevant tutor, whether you can make up the missed learning, for example with additional written work, and set a deadline for it.
5.4 The Progression Assessment Board, which meets in July each year, considers extenuating circumstances and decides whether the circumstances justify the absence and whether you can progress, based on your overall progress.
5.5 We use any health information you give us only to decide your request, and we delete the evidence once the decision has been made.
6.1 If your attendance in a module falls below 85% and extenuating circumstances do not apply, you will be treated as having withdrawn from that module. You will not be able to take its assessment and must retake the module, for a module retake fee of £250.
6.2 If you do not respond to our messages about continued absence, we may treat you as having withdrawn from your course. Withdrawing may affect your fees, as set out in the Student Agreement. If you need a break from your studies, the Student Agreement explains how to pause your course.
